Made in Italy Day: the Dubai Hub in a region where demand for Italian excellence is increasing

On 15 April 2024, the first National Made in Italy Day will be celebrated, established on the occasion of Leonardo Da Vinci’s birth date to celebrate and valorise Italy’s practical ingenuity and artistic flair and Italian excellence around the world.

In fact, ‘Made in Italy’ is not just a brand name, but a recognised symbol of quality, creativity and know-how. Sectors such as fashion, design, automotive, food and wine, to name a few, reflect the Italian ability to combine tradition and innovation. Beyond numbers, Made in Italy speaks of stories, tradition, passion and a relentless pursuit of perfection. Globally, Italy is in fact one of the leading exporters of high quality products, both in goods and increasingly also in services and know-how.

Also in the Gulf countries, Made in Italy is confirmed as a symbol of excellence and refinement. This region, with its growing interest in luxury and high quality products, proves to be an important market for Italian expansion. For example, Italian exports to the Gulf countries have recorded significant figures, with a steady increase that testifies to the growing appreciation and demand for Made in Italy in these areas.

In 2023, the value of bilateral trade between Italy and the UAE increased by 6% reaching 7 billion euros in the first 10 months, an increase that follows a 19 % growth recorded in the previous year, when it had exceeded 8 billion euros. Italian exports to the UAE increased significantly in several sectors, such as the nautical industry, with exports amounting to almost 116 million euros in the first 11 months of 2023, or the agri-food sector, where, between January and November 2022, there was an increase of 46%, amounting to around 400 million euros. The jewellery industry also particularly stood out, with exports to the UAE almost reaching over 900 million euros in 2023, highlighting the strong demand for luxury goods in the region.

In this context, Italiacamp Dubai Hub for Made in Italy is a strategic centre for Italian companies aiming to explore and consolidate their presence abroad: a physical hub with offices, coworking and event spaces and an integrated consultancy platform that accelerates the internationalisation of Italian organisations towards the Gulf countries, supporting them in the dissemination of know-how and services in this region of the world which is experiencing significant economic and cultural activity.
